Dr. Josh Anthony is the Founder and CEO of Nlumn. Josh applies his deep scientific and business expertise to empower Nlumn’s clients to shape strategy and deliver evidence-based products, services, and experiences that drive growth while helping people make healthier choices.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning Fortune 500 companies and startups, Josh is a scientist, innovator, and entrepreneur. He has contributed to the development and launch of more than 150 science-based nutrition products and services and holds over 140 patents globally. He is widely recognized for translating complex science into practical health solutions.
Before founding Nlumn, Josh served as the founding Chief Science Officer at the personalized nutrition pioneer, Habit, and previously as Vice President of Global Nutrition and Health at Campbell Soup Company. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Reckitt–Mead Johnson Nutrition and Unilever and served as an adjunct faculty member in physiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Josh also serves as a board member and advisor to companies, universities, and nonprofits across the food and nutrition sectors. He was named an Innovate 100 honoree, recognizing top innovators in New Jersey, and received a Career Achievement Award from the University of Illinois College of ACES.
Josh holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois, a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Physiology from Penn State College of Medicine, and an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with his family, especially cooking together or travelling to destinations with white sand and turquoise water. When he needs time to recharge, you’ll often find him training, painting, or reading.

Dr. Robert Bergia is a translational health scientist and strategic advisor who helps organizations interpret emerging evidence across the health, nutrition, and aging sectors. He specializes in synthesizing complex and rapidly evolving science into clear strategy, product positioning, and stakeholder communication—connecting scientific evidence to practical business decisions.
As Founder and Principal of Berkwood Research, Robert partners with companies, trade associations, and startups to translate scientific evidence into actionable intelligence. His areas of focus span personalized nutrition, protein metabolism, dietary patterning, and emerging obesity pharmacotherapy, where his work connects emerging science with individualized health solutions. He has authored more than two dozen peer-reviewed publications and has served in scientific advisory and board leadership roles across the nutrition and health sciences industries.
Prior to founding Berkwood, Robert worked in R&D at ADM, where he led protein nutrition research, shaped science-backed product narratives, and conducted R&D assessments supporting M&A decisions. His career spansacademic research, industry, and consulting, giving him a distinctive ability to bridge laboratory evidence with business decision-making.
Robert earned his B.S. in Nutrition Sciences from Penn State University, his M.S. in Health Sciences from Georgia State University, and a dual-title PhD in Nutrition Science and Gerontology from Purdue University. He also earned an MBA with High Honors from Boston University, further strengthening his focus on evidence commercialization and business strategy.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys hiking the mountains around Santa Barbara, biking with his daughter, or (if he's being honest) leading a group of fellow gamer-dads in a World of Warcraft dungeon.

Katie Cleary founded Cleary Insights in 2019 to help organizations build deeper connections with their consumers. She believes in meeting people where they live, shop, and spend their time rather than bringing them into a traditional research environment. Through authentic engagement, she helps startups and Fortune 500 companies understand not only what consumers do, but why they do it and the emotions behind their decisions. This work uncovers opportunities grounded in community, social impact, health, and wellness. Through her work with Nlumn, she helps organizations translate deep consumer insight into strategies that drive meaningful innovation and growthin health and personalized nutrition.
Previously, Katie served as Director of Consumer Insights at Campbell Soup Company. For more than 14 years, she led primary research for several of the country’s biggest and most beloved food brands, including Campbell’s Condensed Soup, Campbell’s Chunky Soup, V8 juice, and Pace salsa, uncovering insights that informed product development and advertising strategy. She also led insight development that helped shape Campbell’s corporate purpose, including Real Food and transparency initiatives.
Katie combines a passion for consumer-driven insight with a focus on rapid innovation. She spent five years on a cross-functional disruptive innovation team at Campbell’s, identifying and shaping new products, processes, and business models. Her work contributed to the launch of The Soulful Project, a Certified B Corp multigrain cereal brand that donates a serving of cereal to a local food bank for every serving sold.
In addition to consulting, Katie serves as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Business at Penn State University. Outside of her professional work, Katie enjoys volunteering in her community and supporting organizations that help people break the cycle of poverty.

Katherine Hoy is a nutrition researcher, registered dietitian, and educator with extensive experience in public health nutrition, clinical research, evidence review, and higher education. Her work includes supporting nutrition research using national dietary data, managing multi-site clinical and public health nutrition initiatives, conducting systematic and evidence-based reviews, and translating scientific findings into reports, presentations, and publications. She has collaborated with academic, government, nonprofit, and healthcare stakeholders to advance nutrition research and communication.
Across roles in federal research, nonprofit leadership, clinical trials, teaching, and nutrition practice, she has contributed expertise in data analysis, research methodology, program development, scientific communication, and nutrition education and counseling.
Kathy earned a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Dayton and an M.S. in Nutrition, an M.Ed. in Applied Physiology, and a Doctor of Education in Nutrition from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a Registered DietitianNutritionist (RDN, #460904) accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Outside of work, Kathy enjoys rowing on the Christina River in Wilmington, DE, reading, knitting, and planning her next trip to Japan to visit her daughter.

Dr. Josh Erndt-Marino has built a multidisciplinary career spanning biology, nutrition science, entrepreneurship, and data science, focused on solving complex problems in health, nutrition, and human performance.
Initially trained as a bioengineer studying neural tissue and inflammation, and later as a nutrition and data scientist working at the population level, Josh specializes in translating rigorous science into practical tools that help companies and consumers make better health decisions.
Guided by the questions, “Who will use this?” and “And why will it matter?”, his work sits at the intersection of scientific depth, quantitative modeling, and real-world application. During his NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship, he contributed to major global nutrition initiatives, including the Global Dietary Database and The Tufts Food Compass.
As the founder of Bespoke Analytics, Josh independently developed the FRESH (Food Recommendations for Equitable, Sustainable Health™) Platform, a suite of translational, interactive software tools designed to support individualized decision-making and industry innovation. The platform integrates predictive health modeling, dietary assessment, biomarker tracking, risk quantification, and food-level health ratings. It also supports translational R&D through tools such as a meta–nutritional profiling system (meta-NPS) that aggregates multiple food scoring algorithms to identify consensus measures of healthfulness while highlighting areas of expert disagreement.
Josh’s approach balances scientific rigor, data-driven insights, and entrepreneurial thinking, helping organizations turn complex data into confident, evidence-based decisions.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, playing games, snowboarding, and reading science or philosophy.

Dr. Kristin Nieman is a nutrition scientist focused on improving human health through a person-centered approach to innovation. With more than 15 years of experience in translational science, she partners with companies to design rigorous clinical and preclinical research that connects emerging science to meaningful health solutions.
As Director of Clinical and Discovery at Nlumn, Kristin collaborates on strategy across personalized nutrition, evidence generation, and health application development. She helps translate emerging science into credible, actionable, scalable, and impactful solutions. Her work spans personalized nutrition, metabolic health, women’s health, cognitive performance, and functional ingredient innovation. Across every collaboration, Kristin is guided by a core belief: science should empower individuals to make informed, confident decisions about their health.
Prior to joining Nlumn, Kristin held scientific roles in both contract research and industry settings and founded Katalyses in 2017 to support organizations developing products grounded in clinical integrity and real-world relevance.
Kristin earned her B.A. in Biology from Wartburg College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from Iowa State University. She completed postdoctoral training in oncology and metabolism at the University of Chicago. Kristin also holds certifications in health and wellness coaching from Duke Health and in lifestyle coaching from Emory University.
Health is both her professional focus and personal priority. Outside of work, she enjoys strength training, running, competitive volleyball, and exploring the outdoors with her family.

Anita Shaffer is a nutritionist with more than 40 years of diverse experience partnering with organizations to create practical, scientifically credible nutrition solutions.
As the Founder of ATS Nutrition Services, LLC (established in 2021), she provides consulting in nutrition strategy and communications, food product development, recipe creation and analysis, and food service operations. In 2024, she joined the Rowan-Virtua Regional Integrated Special Needs (RISN) Center, where she helps educate the next generation of physicians while supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
Earlier in her career, Anita led nutrition strategy for Campbell Soup Company’s foodservice division, directed menu management for Compass Group’s Chartwells K-12 Division, and oversaw clinical nutrition services at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (formerly Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center). She also served as a nutrition educator at Sidney Kimmel Medical College (formerly Jefferson Medical College) and as a clinical dietitian at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Anita earned her B.S. in Human Clinical Nutrition from Drexel University and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (#713825) and a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist (#CCMS311).
Outside of work, Anita enjoys gardening, cooking, nature walks, and photography.

Kristen Taran is a strategic marketer who combines insight, creativity, and data-driven strategy to build impactful brands. With more than 15 years of experience in advertising, she has developed high-performing campaigns forbrands including Cetaphil, Outlook, PwC, and Tylenol. In 2022, Kristen joined longevity start-up Juvenescence as Brand Director, where she led the repositioning of its direct-to-consumer product. She also helped develop an app designed to bridge personalization and prevention, empowering consumers to make meaningful health and lifestyle changes. Her passion lies in transforming insights into strategies that drive real impact—from shaping positioning and refining messaging to elevating brand communications that fuel growth.
At Nlumn, Kristen provides marketing expertise to support clients’ needs for consumer research, brand, and communications programs. She also oversees operations and project management, ensuring seamless integration between strategy, execution, and delivery.
Outside of work, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and their two little girls, reading, listening to podcasts, and designing stationery to help people stay organized and productive.

Barbara Winters joined Nlumn in 2021 and brings more than 30 years of experience in nutrition and wellness, spanning basic research, clinical nutrition applications, and health behavior science. Her passion is translating science into products and programs that improve health. She believes that state-of-the-art science must be paired with individual behavior change to align choices with long-term health goals.
Prior to joining Nlumn, Barbara founded Winters Nutrition Associates, LLC, where she provided a wide range of nutrition consulting services and helped develop a personalized wellness app designed to support individualized lifestyle wellness changes. She also served as the Director of Nutrition Science and Research at the personalized nutrition start-up company Habit.
Earlier in her career, Barbara worked at Campbell Soup Company for over 12 years, where she helped leverage nutrition science to support wellness-focused brands and identify new ingredients and partnerships that advance product and program innovation. Prior to Campbell, she served as the Director of Translational Research at American Health Foundation.
Barbara earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. in nutrition science from the Pennsylvania State University and completed a two-year post-doctoral training program in nutrition metabolism and clinical studies at Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN, 591504) accredited through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Outside of work, Barbara enjoys celebrating life on the lake where she lives—kayaking, volunteering, caring for her swans and other animals, and taking long hikes in the countryside.
